Who we are

MentorBuddy is a mentoring platform operated by FuturistaLab. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us any time at hello@mentorbuddy.app.

What we collect

Only what the product needs to work. There is no advertising on MentorBuddy, we do not buy data about you, and we never sell or share your data with advertisers.

• Account details: your email address, and your name if you give one. There is no password — we sign you in with a one-time link.
• Mentoring content: the sessions, goals, tasks, notes, resources and feedback that you or your mentoring partner create.
• Profile details you choose to add, such as a short bio, an avatar and your preferred language.
• Technical data needed to run the service: your sign-in cookie, your language cookie, and standard server logs kept briefly by our hosting provider.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and EU-hosted. It counts page views in aggregate and does not build a profile of you, follow you across sites, or collect anything that identifies you personally.

Cookies

MentorBuddy sets two cookies and both are essential: one keeps you signed in, the other remembers whether you want the interface in English or Portuguese. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why you are not asked to dismiss a cookie banner.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of sub-processors to run the service. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

• Supabase — database and authentication. Your data is stored in the EU (Stockholm).
• Vercel — hosting and content delivery for the website itself.
• Resend — delivery of transactional email, such as your sign-in links and mentoring invitations.
• Plausible — aggregate, cookieless analytics.
• Sentry — error monitoring, hosted in the EU. It receives technical crash reports so we can fix faults. It is configured not to record your screen, not to collect personal data, and to strip web addresses of anything identifying before they are sent.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights over your personal data. Email hello@mentorbuddy.app to use any of them and we will respond within 30 days, free of charge.

• Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — have anything inaccurate corrected. Most of it you can edit yourself in Settings.
• Erasure — have your account and personal data deleted.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format, or have it sent to another provider.
• Restriction and objection — ask us to pause or stop particular kinds of processing.
• Complaint — raise a concern with your national data protection authority if you think we have got this wrong.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and its content for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account we remove it from the live service within 30 days, and it drops out of encrypted backups within a further 30 days. Note that mentoring content is shared with your mentoring partner: sessions and notes belonging to a shared relationship may remain visible to them even after you leave, unless you ask us to remove those too.
